Program for Promoting University Education and Student Support Theme A: Program for Promoting University Education Reform
Interprofessional Education for Comprehensive Undergraduate Training among Students in Health Sciences and Medicine

This was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a project with a clear target and strong possibility of having effects. The project aims to provide information widely and enhance the quality assurance of higher education in Japan.

This project "Interprofessional Education for Comprehensive Undergraduate Training among Students in Health Sciences and Medicine" was selected in 2010.

Through this project, we aim to develop a system for fostering people capable of actualizing the educational objectives of the Faculty of Medicine, Gunma University, that are namely: 1) Respect for human dignity, 2) Flexible thinking from diverse perspectives, 3) Cooperation in the healthcare sector, and 4) Creative thinking. To achieve this, we strive to improve our interprofessional education designed for holistic medical care, encourage our students and young teachers to directly participate in international activities related to interprofessional education, and foster the comprehensive scholastic competency of the students in the Faculty of Medicine

Since 2011, we have also provided this course as a core subject to students from the School of Medicine, thus expanding it as a faculty-wide effort to foster people capable of practicing interprofessional work for providing holistic medical care, as well as to more effectively foster people capable of providing the healthcare required in both international societies and domestic communities.

(This program was reviewed by the "Committee for Promoting University Education" run by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)).
